요리할 돈이 없어서 배달음식을 먹는 사람들

상파울루, 브라질. 2011년 2월 뉴스. 피자 배달점이 늘어나고 있다. 왜일까? 

도시 빈민 인구가 늘어나고 있는데, 그들에게 부엌이 없기 때문.

 '가난한 사람이 핸드폰은 있다고? 그런데 가스비를 낼 돈이 없다고?' 같은 소리들. 얼마나 근시안적인가. 얼마나 자기중심적인 시각인가. '요리를 할 돈이 없어서 배달음식을 먹는다' 같은 '비논리적' 현상이야말로 현실에 더 가깝다.

Food is also one of the few pleasures available to the poorest. In the favelas (slums) of São Paulo, the largest city in South America, takeaway pizza parlours are proliferating because many families, who often do not have proper kitchens, now order a pizza at home to celebrate special occasions.
